PlassGas Reusable

PlassGas has been designed for multiple re-use when carrying out purging and bypass, replacing electrofusion fittings that are discarded after use. PlassGas can be dissasembled and reused multiple times. For temporary use and are recommended for max 168 hour (7 day) use on low pressure and medium pressure gas systems.

1 Prior to use and without dismantling check for any sign of damage. Visually inspect the internal sealing ring for dirt or debris, this can be removed by rinsing with water and then drying.

2 Ensure the spigot or pipe end is clean and free from surface scratches or damage. When using 63mm pipe, use the Plasson chamfer tool for ease of insertion.

Prior to insertion, ensure that the locking nut is fully tightened onto the main body. Mark with a marker in the closed position. 3

Using the depth gauge on the PLASSON wrench, mark the spigot/pipe end. This shows the minimum depth required. The main body has a center stop so it cannot be over inserted.

Apply a leak detection fluid directly onto the sealing ring, as lubrication will ease the insertion.

Loosen the locking nut two or three turns, then slide onto the spigot/pipe. Once you have reached the center stop, or passed the minimum depth marker, re tighten the locking nut until the mark on the locking nut meets the mark on the main body.

32mm min depth 45mm or to stop. 63mm min depth 90mm or to stop.

Once the application has been completed and the fitting is no longer required on the spigot/pipe, loosen the locking nut sufficiently and slide off. Retighten and store for the next use.

For EF joints ensure clean, dry working conditions and prepare pipe with appropriate tools to ensure removal of 0.2mm of surface of the pipe in the weld area.

General note for all installations: Before installation of all fittings, ensure that the end of the pipe to be inserted into the fitting is free of scratches and other imperfections and that both the pipe and the fitting itself are free of sand, mud, stones, etc. Where applicable ensure that split ring and grip ring teeth are sharp and bite into the pipe, to avoid pullouts if fittings are reused. If uncertain, replace the split ring and grip ring. Do not over tighten nuts when closing. Do not use wrenches or spanners with handle lengths longer than 46 cm. Alternatively replace split ring and grip ring where applicable. On MI and FI fittings and on PLASSON threaded fittings use PTFE to seal the thread. Do not use thread seal pastes.
